At UTEP, the student body is as unique as the campus’ Bhutanese-inspired buildings. Here, student life focuses on developing a holistic student, which includes excelling in the classroom and becoming engaged on campus and in the community.
Every school year kicks off with UTEP’s largest, most anticipated tradition: Minerpalooza! Throughout the year, students can participate in programs such as Miner Welcome, a week full of engaging events; Up All Night, a finals week event where students can de-stress with relaxing activities; and the International Cultural Festival.
More than 200 registered student organizations offer a rich variety of extracurricular choices for interests ranging from sustainability to computer gaming. Students can join organizations tailored to political, social, cultural and service activities, including the Student Government Association and UTEP’s fraternities and sororities.
Housing at UTEP provides students with a safe and secure learning environment that eliminates the stress of a daily commute. Three convenient on-campus housing options provide students with an apartment-style residence hall experience, including the Miner Village, Miner Heights and Miner Canyon complexes.
The state-of-the-art Student Recreation Center provides access to innovative programs and services to all UTEP students. The facility features an indoor track, a climbing wall, cardiovascular equipment and weights, basketball courts, indoor pools and more. Students also can participate in fitness classes, play for an intramural team or visit attractions like Ski Apache and even the Grand Canyon.
Athletics brings UTEP students, faculty and staff, and the greater El Paso community together for sporting events such as football, basketball, track and many others. Students can join the Miner Maniacs and experience athletic events with some of UTEP’s most exuberant student fans.
Dining at UTEP has never been better. With more than 15 options to choose from, there’s something for everyone. Students can use Miner Bucks or join one of the many meal plans available.
Finally, adding to all this excitement is the UTEP Edge, the University’s commitment to student success. Building on students’ talents and strengths, the UTEP Edge encourages students to participate in meaningful experiences like community engagement, undergraduate research, study abroad, on-campus student employment, and more. These experiences help students develop skills that will give them an advantage for academic, personal and professional success.
