The Lubar Entrepreneurship Center & UWM Welcome Center

The Lubar Entrepreneurship Center is housed in a new facility at the northwest corner of E. Kenwood Boulevard and N. Maryland Avenue, along with the UWM Welcome Center. This prominent location sends a powerful message about the importance of entrepreneurship to UWM. The Lubar Entrepreneurship Center is a resource for the community, offering connections to scientists and researchers engaged in cutting-edge work. In addition, the center draws on expertise from the region and fosters key partnerships that include: Scale Up Milwaukee, BizStarts Milwaukee, regional public school districts, the Midwest Energy Research Consortium and others.

UWM Student Startup Challenge

The Student Startup Challenge is a unique co-curricular program that creates an entrepreneurial culture at UWM by encouraging students to develop their ideas, launch businesses, and gain unique skills that come from the entrepreneurial experience. Students have the opportunity to participate in hands-on workshops and develop ideas through one-on-one mentorship from UWM faculty and staff.

The program pairs student entrepreneurs with existing classes and student teams to create prototypes and business plans to ultimately market their ideas. Students and teams involved in the Student Startup Challenge process also can receive funding support from a pool of $25,000.
