Schmeeckle Reserve

UW-Stevens Point’s Schmeeckle (SHMEE-klee) Reserve is a 280-acre natural area maintained by the university to protect and restore native ecological communities of Central Wisconsin. It is an ideal place for hiking, jogging, biking, canoeing, fishing, wildlife watching and relaxing. The reserve has five miles of trails and boardwalks, 25-acre Lake Joanis, diversity of wildlife species, visitor center and gift shop.

Schmeeckle Reserve is one of four field stations in Wisconsin operated by UW-Stevens Point. Others include the Central Wisconsin Environmental Station in Amherst Junction, Northern Aquaculture Demonstration Facility in Bayfield and Treehaven in Tomahawk.
