When we say “College is more than going to class” we mean it. There are hundreds of chartered Student Organizations for you to choose from when it comes to getting involved. Chartered Student Organizations are groups that are officially recognized by The University of New Mexico. These student organizations are an opportunity for growth and leadership in a student-driven environment, with the support of the University. You'll discover that your hobbies and academic interests are present in a variety of these dynamic groups.
The history of Fraternity & Sorority Life at the University dates back more than 120 years and has had a significant impact. Today, our students, 41% of whom are first-generation, are committed to making a difference in the communities they live and learn. With a strong focus on academic performance and leadership development, it is no wonder why students in Fraternity & Sorority Life are found in leadership positions across campus. We are very proud to have a system devoted to change and positive growth.
CLUB, INTRAMURAL & RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES
Hit buckets on the Casas del Rio courts. Swim laps in Johnson Pool. Grapple and strike, or stretch and pose in a Pilates or yoga class. With sports options ranging from Football and Futsal to Ultimate Frisbee, there's something for everyone. Lobos are active at every level, so give your all in all you do.
It’s always chow time at La Posada—our newly reimagined, modern dining hall. You’ll find endless dishes to charge you up and get you going. Worldwide cuisine right here to feed your every craving and meet your every dietary restriction. We cater to vegans, carnivores and everyone in between. Dine on ginger glazed ribs or choose your favorite ingredients to create the perfect pho. Whether it's ice cream for breakfast or waffles for dinner, whenever you're hungry, we're ready to serve.
IS ROOTED IN CUISINE.
Albuquerque’s unique flavors are found everywhere at UNM. Because here, dining can be an experience as well as a dish. That’s why you’ll find our culinary culture outside of the kitchen, too. We share in the moment and the meal. Roasting the unofficial food of New Mexico—green chile—outside and by the ton. Hosting food festivals across campus to feature local farmers in unexpected celebrations of food and drink. And we care about what you’re hungry for. Draft & Table, one of our on-campus restaurants, is directly inspired by what students told us they craved. Food is a lifestyle here, and you’re steps away from your next incredible meal.
STATISTICALLY SPEAKING, STUDENTS

HIGHER GPAs THAN THOSE WHO DON’T.
One of the best choices you can make as you start your college career is to live close to campus. Right on campus, even better because you should be spending your time being here, not getting here.
