President Mark Schlissel

I am pleased to welcome you to the University of Michigan.

As one of the nation’s first public universities, we take very seriously our responsibility to serve society and advance the public good. My main objectives as president are to position the University of Michigan for perpetual excellence and impact in research, education, performance, patient care, service and creative work, and to promote a campus climate that is inclusive and welcoming to the diverse community we serve.

Here at U-M, students study and work with faculty who conduct research that addresses major societal issues and produce scholarship and creative work that promotes understanding and enriches the human experience. These values drive our ambition for U-M to provide the best and most forward-looking undergraduate, graduate and professional education available today.

To assure that a U-M education remains affordable to all those who are talented and willing to work hard, we have increased financial aid to ensure that cost will not be a barrier for students from Michigan families with financial need. We seek to build a diverse community in which everyone has an equal opportunity to thrive.

Thank you for visiting the University of Michigan. I hope you enjoy your time on campus, and I invite you to learn more: http://president.umich.edu
